From there, our experienced eye doctors can recommend any treatment, therapy or vision correction necessary to help you keep your life in focus!
Imagine waking up in the morning, taking your contacts OUT and having clear vision. Contact lens technology has come such a long way!! CRT lenses are available at 20/20 Image Eye Centers. Stop by or call today to schedule an appointment with Dr. Yath.
Contact lenses are a safe, effective vision correction option, worn by 40 million Americans. However, there is a reason all contact lenses are classified as medical devices. The FDA published studies early this year showing nearly 60% of counterfeit and decorative contact lenses were contaminated with microorganisms that cause serious eye infections and vision loss. Be safe this Halloween! Make sure your costume lenses are prescribed by your trusted optometrist.
Having itchy, watery eyes lately? Come in and see Dr Shifrin or Dr McCord at 20/20 Image Eye Centers Scottsdale. Doctors of optometry can make a difference to the 1 in 3 Americans living with hypertension. High blood pressure is the "silent killer" -- symptoms usually go unnoticed. Unfortunately a lot of patients don't see their primary care doctor on a regular basis so the first time they hear they have hypertension or diabetes is in our office. Make your annual eye exam a part of your yearly set of health exams!
More than one in three adults are obese according to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive Kidney Diseases. But what is not well known is that a common method to treat obesity, bariatric surgery, can lead to a serious vision problem: nyctalopia, or night blindness. This is because the most common side effect of bariatric surgery is malnutrition, including decreased levels of fat-soluble vitamins, particularly vitamin A. Vitamin A is necessary for the formation of rhodopsin, the light-sensitive pigment found in rod cells, critical for seeing at night. In fact, night blindness is often the first sign of a deficiency in vitamin A. It is a reminder that we need patients to understand the importance of annual eye exams and that many systemic diseases and disorders can reveal themselves through ocular complications. The human iris does its job of adjusting your pupil size to meter the amount of light hitting the retina behind without you having to actively think about it. And while a camera's aperture is designed to work the same way as a biological iris, it's anything but automatic. Even point-and-shoots rely on complicated control mechanisms to keep your shots from becoming overexposed. But a new "artificial iris" developed at Tampere University of Technology in Finland can autonomously adjust itself based on how bright the scene is. Scientists from the Smart Photonic Materials research group developed the iris using a light-sensitive liquid crystal elastomer. The team also employed photoalignment techniques, which accurately position the liquid crystal molecules in a predetermined direction within a tolerance of a few p

Are you tired of the routine eye exam that requires dilation? Come to 20/20 Image in Scottsdale to see Dr Shifrin or Dr Yath! Our office offers a digital picture of the eye called Optos Imaging for only $29 additional. It gives the doctor a great view of the eye and does not leave you light sensitive and wearing those disposable sun shades when you leave the office. Our patients love that they can go straight back to their everyday routine without the blurriness caused by dilation.
