Enjoy the Comfort and Convenience of Contact Lenses
20/20 Image Eye Centers is your complete resource for contact lenses. Our experienced eye doctors have helped thousands of patients to keep their life in focus through the comfort and convenience of contact lenses. Most people who require vision correction can wear contact lenses without any problems. Advances in lens materials and technology have made contact lenses more comfortable, safer and easier to wear.
Why Choose Contact Lenses?
The reasons for choosing contact lenses over eyeglasses for vision correction are nearly as diverse as the people who wear them. From a practical standpoint, contact lenses can actually provide enhanced vision correction because there is no obstruction from eyeglass frames. Contacts also allow for excellent peripheral vision, and they won’t slip, fog or get “rained out” like eyeglasses.
Wearing contact lenses also eliminates the prismatic effect that occurs when looking through eyeglasses. When you look off at an angle through glasses, your eyes must make adjustments because you are not viewing through the center of the lens. But because contact lenses move with your eyes, you are always focused through the center of the lens.
For anyone who leads an active lifestyle, contact lenses from 20/20 Image Eye Centers may be your best option. You won’t have to worry about eyeglasses flopping about or blocking your field of vision. Plus, contacts allow you to wear non-prescription protective eyewear, such as goggles or face masks.
How Contact Lenses Work
Contact lenses rest on the cornea, the clear outer surface of the eye. They are held in place mainly by adhering to the thin film that covers the front of the eye and by pressure from the eyelids.
As the eyelid blinks, it glides over the surface of the contact lens and causes it to move slightly. This movement allows the tears to provide necessary lubrication to the cornea and helps flush away debris between the cornea and the contact lens.
Contact lenses are optical medical devices, primarily used to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia. The contact lens functions as the initial optical element of the eye, combining with the natural optics of the eye to properly focus light on the retina.
